MapUnlocker Palworld Mod: Full Map From the Start (Install Guide)
MapUnlocker is the most-downloaded Palworld mod on Nexus, near 500,000 downloads, and it does exactly one thing: it reveals the entire world map from the start. No fog of war, no blank regions, no guessing where the next tower or dungeon sits. If you plan routes, hunt specific Pals, or just hate re-exploring the same ground on a new save, this is the mod that fixes it.
What MapUnlocker does
Palworld normally reveals the map piece by piece as you explore. MapUnlocker removes that fog from the beginning, so the whole of Palpagos and the World Tree is visible the moment you load in. You can place markers, plan a route to a specific region, and see where you have and have not been without travelling there first.
What it does not do is unlock fast travel. Fast-travel points still need to be visited and activated one by one before you can jump to them. MapUnlocker shows you where they are; it does not switch them on. That distinction matters, because players sometimes install it expecting instant travel and then report it as broken when towers stay inactive.
Verified facts
Author: KoZ. Type: client-side. Works in multiplayer on Steam. Available on Nexus Mods and the Steam Workshop. The Workshop version lists UE4SS as a required item, so UE4SS must be installed alongside it. Checked against current listings in October 2026: MapUnlocker is listed for Palworld 1.0, appears in current 1.0 modding guides, and no 1.0-era breakage is reported for it. As with every mod, check its own page for the latest update before installing.
How to install MapUnlocker
Steam Workshop path (easiest):
- Open Steam, go to your Library, and open Palworld.
- Click Workshop, search for Map Unlocker, and open its page.
- Click Subscribe to All. This downloads both MapUnlocker and its required item, UE4SS. Skipping UE4SS is the most common reason the mod does nothing.
- Launch Palworld once so Steam finishes the download.
Nexus Mods path:
- Download MapUnlocker from its Nexus Mods page.
- Install UE4SS first if you do not have it, following the UE4SS setup in the install guide.
- Place the mod files where the mod page instructs, then launch the game.
If you are new to modding, read the full install guide first: it covers Workshop, pak, and UE4SS installs step by step, plus the save backup you should make before adding any mod. For server owners, the dedicated server mod guide explains how client-side mods like this one interact with a shared world.
When MapUnlocker does not work
Map shows no change: UE4SS is almost always the cause on the Workshop path. Confirm it downloaded alongside the mod and is enabled.
Fast travel still locked: that is normal. Visit each tower to activate it; MapUnlocker only reveals the map.
Game crashes on startup: remove MapUnlocker, confirm the game launches clean, then add it back alone. If it still crashes, check the mod page comments for a current patch conflict.
Frequently asked questions
Does MapUnlocker unlock fast travel points? No. It reveals the map only. Towers must still be visited.
Does it work in multiplayer? Yes, on Steam. Each player who wants the revealed map needs the mod.
Does it work on Game Pass? The mod’s creator had not fully tested the Game Pass version. Steam is the confirmed path.
Is MapUnlocker free? Yes, like all mods on Nexus Mods and the Steam Workshop.
Will it break my save? It does not edit save data, but back up your saves before installing any mod, as a habit.
Verdict
MapUnlocker earns its download count. It changes nothing about combat, balance, or progression, it just removes the fog. For route planning, Pal hunting, and repeat playthroughs, it is the first mod most players install, and the easiest to recommend.
